Space Shuttle Discovery, Washington, DC
This space shuttle Discovery on it's retirement flight in Washington, DC. It showed up a few minutes early at 9:54 Eastern time, April 17, 2012 I was in front of the Netherlands Carillon in Arlington, Virginia looking towards the Mall. First pass was RIGHT over head and down the Potomac. Two passes south to north and one pass east to west, seemed to be north of the Mall. After the show Discovery headed to Dulles to go on display at the National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.

Everyone waiting for the shuttle.
The first pass. It caught everyone by surprise, passed right overhead after flying over Rosslyn. The guys with the 3 foot long lenses and cameras on tripods got nothing on this pass.
Headed down the Potomac, first pass.
They passed well north of the mall, disappointed people who were hoping for a low lengthwise pass right over the mall.
