Angels Landing Hike, Zion National Park
The Angels Landing hike climbs 1488 feet to an elevation of 5785 feet above sea level. The hike is about 2.5 miles long but almost all sections are steep. We started out in the morning so we could climb up in the shade. Once you get to the top there is no escape from the sun, it was 103 F that day. The last half mile, after Scouts Landing, is narrow with steep drop offs. You hang onto well-worn chains for "safety." Fatalities are not unheard of.
